Out with the Students

About two weeks ago, I was fortunate to go out on a field trip around Dubai with one of my classes. We were on a mission to get photos of Dubai and Sharjah, which we hoped would provide suitable entries for a photo competition. My students took some amazing photos, helped somewhat by 10 Megapixel Canon cameras and mind boggling equipment. However, there are some talented photographers and they produced some impressive results.

With my humble Canon powershot which has served us admirably for over three years now, I also took a few photos. You can:

or you can have a quick peek at the highlights below.

Just as a side note, one reason I am spending my time designing these presentations, is to practice and improve my design skills. I am thinking about starting a small design company when I return to Canada, just to see if I can do it. To start, I need some work examples and so I thought my previous slide shows were a bit too plain.

One is of a camel and rider which conveniently wandered along the beach just as we were arriving to get shots of the Dubai Marina.

Another photo presented itself as well. I have cropped the student partially out in order to save face, but have left half in to show the efect of the shot.
