What do Frankincense, Sinbad and the Queen of Sheba all have in common? They all come from Oman. While we didn't see much of the Queen or Sinbad, we did visit a Frankincense farm where the Pakistani caretaker was happy to let us in to the main area and show us how the frankincense is collected from the trees.
There are so many pictures to show that I decided to try a new approach to my regular format. I have grouped photos according to themes and then put each group into a flash player slideshow. Many of these photos can be seen in situ in Google Earth by clicking here. Remember that if you click once on any of the places showing on the map, you can see a related photo and description. If you double click, on any of the places, you can zoom in to the location where the photo was taken. You may have to download Google Earth first if you do not already have it installed.
The first slideshow presents some of the intriguing people we encountered as we passed from one end of the country to the other.

The next group of photos shows some of our secluded and spectacular camping sites. Given the exapnse of desert and emptiness, it is possible and easy to simply pop up your tent, light the BBQ and have a lovely evening.
