Delivering the Shed

One of the first tasks of our summer holiday was to take delivery of our new shed.

Our driveway is surrounded by big trees and so Ted, the driver, had his work cut out for him.

I could tell from Annette's face that something was not right.

After a couple attempts, we all yelled, "Stop!"

More manouevering ended in the ditch. Our neighbour Ken had to rescue us by cutting out a giant stump with his chainsaw.

After cutting out the stump, Ken then towed the tow truck out of the ditch.

Once the tow truck was back in commission, Ted the driver made fast progress.

Ted needed to use every inch of space in the driveway.

We all gather to watch the cottage, the wellhead and the porch.

After several 'tos and fros', the shed was finally in position.

Getting the shed in position turned out to be the easy part!

Large jacks were placed on the corners of the shed which was then lifted up off of the trailer. Once the shed was suspended on the jacks, the trailer was pulled out.

Jacking up the shed was hair-raising as well. That's a lot of weight on four wobbly jacks.

The shed was slowly and very carefully let down, one end a little bit at a time, and then the other end. Ted clearly knew what he was doing.

A huge sigh of relief...

We gave the shed a good inspection. A testament to the contruction of the shed was in the fact that everything was still square, even after all the jacking up and down.

"Well, look at those headers! 2X8s!

Visitors are now greeted by the smiling face of our new shed.

"As you come up the road, you should see a large shed on the right..."
