Holiday over

Well, we are back to Dubai so before I forget about the holiday and think about getting back to work, I will just add some photos to highlight the highlights of the holiday.

Jump!

I mentioned the boys’ weekend in a previous blog. After a bit of drama to organize the boys, we did actually go to the cottage in Chezzetcook and, among other things, went swimming.

The tide is out

A great place to sit

We also spent some time on our beach, which had lots of sand this year, especially at low tide. You can see how much space between our seats and the water we had to sit and watch the tide come back in.

The chairs

The tide is in!

At high tide, we do not have quite so much space and on a few days, such as this one, we were chased out by the encroaching water. Given the nature of our activity, we did not like to leave our seats on the water and so tried to stay to the last possible minute. We started to time our visits to the beach to match the tides so we could take better advantage of the sand.

My partner

One last event was the family weekend in Prince Edward Island. That tends to mark the end of the holiday for us as we usually have only a week or so after the family weekend to pack up and head back to Dartmouth and eventually, Dubai. The weekend is always a great time and of course a chance to catch up with my very large family. The only problem was that I was unable to win the horseshoe tournament and become the first person to win three times. My nephew knocked me and my partner out in the semi-finals and then he and his partner, my sister, went on to win the tournament and both became the first to win the honour I had been hoping for. Oh well, perhaps I will practice this year instead of just starting the tournament without throwing a shoe all year.

Above is a common sight: note the spectator gallery and the tents in the background to accommodate all the people (that is my partner sitting on the cooler.)
