We thought the heat was breaking after a couple days of temperatures below 40 Degrees Celcius. But no, it was only a mirage as today, when I went out to see if I could sit beside the pool and read with my beverage, I noticed this:
Yes that is 49 in the shade. As you can see the only plants that can survive are cactus and a few other very hardy species. At least the sky is a beautiful blue colour. You wouldn’t want to look at the horizon though. At a distance, the sandy haze from construction all around the city obscures any hint of blue that you see when looking straight up.
We also thought that the construction on our street would be finished by now. When we left to go to Canada, they had dug up our street (again) to put in a sewer system. Well, apparently, digging in the sand is more difficult than I thought because they still have not finished.
To make matter worse, now they are going to dig up our driveway.
They told us that this would only take a week, but then again who knows how long this could take given the amount of work being done around the city. Oh well, they will finish and the temperature will drop soon I am sure.
