We have just returned from our anniversary weekend. Last year we went to Jebal Dhanna (view the post here). This year we went to the Fujeirah Rotana Resort and Spa. Although the service was not quite up to standard, the food was very good and atmosphere was very pleasant. When I made the reservation, I mentioned that this was our anniversary and so they surprised us with an upgrade to the beachfront suite.

When we were checking in, I experienced a strange moment in which the valets did not seem to know why I parked in front of the main doors. So, I was forced to accost someone and ask for assistance. Later, when I finally got sorted and in through the doors, the check-in lady was shocked at my story. She immediately brought us glasses of champagne to calm us down. It was after this incident that they mentioned the suite upgrade. Maybe we need to have an anniversary and get treated like dirt before we get the upgrade.

All I know is that this view and the shisha service poolside with a cold one was worth the 90 minute drive from Dubai. It was a bit hot, but 41 is quite comfortable when you are sitting on the beach.
