A week or two ago we decided to head for the mountains and check out one of our favourite camping spots from our days in Dubai. This map will show you where we went in relation to Ras Al Khaimah. On the way into the wadi, we passed the entrance to the Six Senses Spa.
At the top of the hill in the background, is a spectacular view of Zighy Bay (pronounced Sidg-y or something like that).
The last time we drove the top, which was in 2006, we were spectators to this dare devil display:
As drove on into the Wadi Beah, the walls of the wadi became higher and closer together.
And a bit closer again.
Once we reached the top…
We were treated to some world class views…
And like this…
We then set up camp in a secluded area
And sat down to read a good book for a little while.
After a bit of R&R, we went for a hike,
And then returned for bit more R&R.
The next morning …
… we drove all the way back down through the wadi to the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz…
about 80 KM across from Iran, and stopped on the beach for a walk and photo op.
We then went to the Port of Dibba to have a look-see and watched this man…
Load up this boat.
After a drive along the beach, we went home
