After the previous three posts about our summer, it seems rather redundant to do a “Summer 2010” blog, but nevertheless, I would like to summarize and close the summer holidays properly.
I have already written about Spain (read about Spain) and Newfoundland (read about Newfoundland), so I shall proceed immediately to Nova Scotia.
We spent most of our time safely ensconced at 22 Oceanview Drive, Port Mouton, Nova Scotia.
We seemed to spend most of our time working outdoors this summer, which involved taking out all the garden tools and lawn furniture. There was no little bit of grief trying to get large objects through this little door – out when we arrived, and in when we left.
Ken MacAuley, a Port Mouton neighbour, gifted us with a number of new trees and shrubs including these soon-to-be-giant Magnolias …
And this “Butterfly bush”
Being outside so much gave us the chance to discover some giant insects.
Clearing the horseshoe pit area of brush, undergrowth and trees took a few days.
Among other preparations was a new box to hold the horseshoes…
And, in lieu of a trophy, a place to display the tournament winners’ names.
On top of the tournament, we also played many games “just for fun”, not that the tournament was any kind of serious venture.
We were honoured to have many visitors this summer including Cathy, Janice (twice), Taralee, Meredith, Tanya, and…
The Leslie family returned to the old Leslie homestead
I also took some time to go “up to the camp” to hang out with the boys for our annual ‘annual’.
On our forays into town, we stayed with Brent and Bernadette and admired the garden plot.
This describes what you get…
When you eat one of these suckers…
Next summer will be spend mainly on the interior of the cottage to finish the walls and trim
Here are a couple more images from the summer just for good measure.
