The 2012 Annual Bells Point Community Horseshoe Tournament was held on July 14th…
… on an absolutely perfect day.
The usually boisterous crowd was only somewhat less noisy due to the absence of some regular players.
Out of the attendees, we were able to field five teams. This bode well for those of us who do not do so well at high-stakes tournaments.
After a double round robin, the finalists were determined by a win / lose score and tie breakers determined by point spread. Despite concerns over game fixing, the host (me) and his two-time winning team mate Mary held the the day, defeating Paul A and Sue in a hard fought battle 21-19.
Not everybody was happy with that outcome.
After the winning photos were taken (that is about all the recognition you get), the BBQ was the scene of numerous crispy kebabs, supported by yummy salads.
The crowning glory was Mary’s carved watermelon commemorating the event. This might make a great model for a trophy!
