Winter in Port Mouton

This winter – 2015-16 – was the first here in Port Mouton for us since 2008. Back then, we actually lived in Dartmouth, and merely visited Port Mouton on the weekends. However, this year, we lived here through the full winter. Since Christmas (see last post), we have been busy with projects, the big job hunt, and enjoying life here. Luckily, we did not have to shovel too much snow.

We did, however, have to chop a lot of wood. After burning through our meagre supply, we had to go to the local wood guy to get more.

I did have a few trips out of town to Red Deer, China and Ireland in search of the new adventure. Ireland (Paddy’s house is a great place to stay) would have been nice, but Australia will be great! (you will have to wait for that post!).

We also got out of the cottage to visit a few local locales such as,

A lovely spot on the Roseway River

and

Also on the Roseway River

We did have a few storms that left us with some snow …

The library after the snow fall

Clearing the way to the storage shed

… and at times threatened to wash us away with high tides …

Waves do come over the rocks down there!

Lots of water splashes over – you would not believe it at low tide

but…

.. after the snow stops, the weather can be beautiful.

However, most of the time, we had great weather and spent time outside tidying the property and enjoying the lovely Queens County atmosphere.
