As part of our exploration of our environment, we did an 8.5 KM walk from Spit Bridge to Manly Beach (AKA Spit to Manly, or Manly to Spit).
The walk takes you by fantastic views of the North Harbour and around several points and bays within the harbour. We started by Spit Bridge with a great view of Clontarf Point and Sandy Bay. Click on the pictures to get a slide show.
The trail takes you along water’s edge at many points.
At other points, the trail lifts you up (actually you have to walk up many flights of stairs at one point) where you are rewarded with great views.
Once you walk a little bit further, there are some spectacular vistas toward the North and South heads – the entrance to Sydney Harbour, properly known as Port Jackson.
Along the way, you will encounter a profusion of wildlife, as you do everywhere in Australia, including crows who are also enjoying the view.
A bit further yet, the and trail descends through thickets and scrub to the water’s edge again.
Walking along Reef Bay and the North Harbour, there are views and more views across the water, towards the heads and through thickets of yachts moored everywhere.
Eventually, the trail nears Manly Wharf and takes you through a few gardens and in front of people’s gates.
Once you arrive in Manly …
… a stroll along the Corso …
… takes you to the beach.
