Camping at Munmorah

For our first camping experience in Australia, we decided to try a place that had all the proper amenities of camping, including running water and an actual campground in case we ran into difficulties. Munmorah fit our requirements very well, especially considering that we could not get a booking anywhere closer to Sydney.

One thing we have learned from our short time in Australia, is that it is full of interesting wildlife, flora and fauna. We knew this before from all of the National Geographic articles and videos we watched, but coming here really emphasizes this fact.

The park has some lovely vantage points where you can have a great view of the coast.

While on Birdie beach, we did in fact see lots of birds of many different types.

One crow was defending its catch. As we got closer, it took an aggressive stance and actually flew closer to us to scare us away.

We wondered what they were eating. Upon closer inspection, we found they like shellfish.

I had planned to go swimming, but after finding this Man o’war on the beach, I think I should have a stinger suit or a wetsuit.

Back at the camp site, we took time to read and enjoy the lovely weather.

The next morning, we were up before the dawn, and down to the beach for sunrise before driving home.
