Al Ain Spring – 2024

As with the previous post, things were fairly calm and uneventful during the latter part of spring. The biggest deal was the increasing temperature. This photo was taken on May 27th. Usually, we don’t see these temperatures until the middle of July, and then for only a week or two.

Too hot

Because of these temperatures, we felt like going to the beach …

… but at 50 degrees, the sand is too hot to walk on. Even at 40 degrees, when I took these photos, the sand is hot. We still went, but were careful to wear our flipflops.

While in Dubai, we also spent some excellent time with our excellent friends, Kym and Morris.

Kym and Morris – and Annette and me

We always love staying at their place. It is in a lovely area and is a great area to walk through.

During this period, I was offered a new position as Division Chair of Education, but in Abu Dhabi. It just so happened that Annette had lined up a home sit in Abu Dhabi so we were able to visit the city and look around for a new home.

As this was a cat home sit, here are the cats.

Yas Island, if you didn’t know, is home to the Formula 1 race area plus it holds Ferrari World and the Yas Etihad Arena where the big music acts perform. So, we will be in a great area for entertainment.

There is also some very interesting architecture in this new area, including this building.

Sail Tower

Being on the water, we will get some lovely sunsets.

Cats also played a prominent role in our lives during this period. Two of the ‘outdoor’ cats in our neighbourhood adopted us and let us feed them everyday.

Despite the increasing summertime temperatures, we did still get out quite a bit. Al Ain, while very quiet, does have a few nice spots to visit such as the …
