Well, this Christmas did not start out looking like it would be fulfilling holiday season. Due to changes in the college where I have been working for 16 of the last 23 years, I was left having to work through the entire holiday.

After our move to Abu Dhabi, and as I noted in my last post, we have been very fortunate to meet a range of people, and to be able to enjoy some exciting social life.

One of our early seasonal activities was to go to a wine tasting with some new friends. There is nothing like a glass or two to loosen your tongue and get to know some one!

We were able to enjoy some views of downtown Abu Dhabi.  It is a glittering city with some very cool buildings.

One day we stumbled across a great little bar at the Yas Links Golf Course. it has the most amazing view of Abu Dhabi from Yas Island across to Abu Dhabi Island.

On Christmas Eve, we were very honoured to Have Kym and Mo drop down for a lovely night out on the town.

On another day during the holidays, a group of us went to view a visiting Italian tall ship. The name escapes me at the moment, but at any rate it was quite a sight.

After a busy day wandering around, we went for pizza at one of the docks.
