We had a very busy spring including visitors from afar and a few gatherings with people closer to home (Abu Dhabi home that is). Our Abu Dhabi life has been quite an adventuire packed into a few short months. We have not even been here a year yet!
We are always excited to have family come and visit. In March, Barb and Andrew added Dubai to their world adventure. We gave them quite a whirlwind tour of Abu Dhabi starting with the …

.. Crafty Fox, our favourite watering hole, where we caught the sun disappearing behind some buildings on the Abu Dhabi corniche.

While in Abu Dhabi, we also paid a visit to another personal favourite ‘local’, where we sampled some crafts put together by their brew master. They take their draft taps quite seriously.

Of course, we also took them through Dubai where we stayed overnight and visited a few of the hot spots, including the Dubai Mall …

… and the fountain.
Sound and Light at the Burj
One aspect of the Dubai Mall and Business Bay that always intrigues me is that not only is there the world’s tallest building, but there is an entire ‘city’ of skyscrapers all crowded into this part of Dubai.

Dubai, despite its modern sleek skyscrapers, also has some of its old flair left to experience.
You can also take a wander through some old style souqs. This is the Gold souq, where you can buy and sell your gold by weight. You will not find any Canadian 10K or 14K gold here – minimum 18K or higher.

We also took a run to Al Ain and our favourite picnic spot, out on the dunes near a camel farm.

Barb and Andrew actually left Dubai to doa bit more travelling for a few weeks before stopping in on their way back home for a night. So, tried to find the highest Happy hour and found ourselves along Sheikh Zayed Road up around the 50th floor.
One activity that Dubai has worked out quite well is making islands. Off in the distance, you can see the growing archipelago of ‘Dubai World’.

Dubai also has some amazing architecture such as the Museum of the Future.

For any long time residents of Dubai, the four buildings slightly to the left of the museum are the Trade Center Apartments. They used to be a landmark as they were the only buildings in this section. Now, you might not even notice them.
We also had a whole lotta fun with a bunch of different people.
