Surprisingly  or perhaps not, I have found our time here to be very full and busy. I thought I might start to make a few more posts, but in fact have made fewer than this period over the last few years.

Much of the past few months have been consumed by renovations, or preparations for those, which may be the same thing? Every now and then, you just have to stop and have a fire.

One renovation is to our fire pit area. We purchased a new fire pit to improve our fire burning enjoyment.

You cannot have a good fire without some good friends to enjoy it with.

While I am on the topic of fires, we also had quite a bit of firewood delivered. We got lucky and were able to buy 2 cords from a local contractor who had just cleared a nearby lot for house construction.

While getting your firewood this way is quite a bit cheaper than buying it cut and split, you do have to cut and split it yourself.

We had so much fun doing this, that I made a video!

Before we did too many renovations, we had to remove a few trees, which will add to our firewood pile. One problematic tree was overhnging the power line to the bunkie, but more importantly was in the way of our new septic field. This was well out of my capacity to remove, so we called in an expert. This was quite thrilling to watch, so yes I made another video.

We also had a tree overhanging our new deck and the cottage. This was even more challenging to cut, and the guy with the bucket truck could not get in position to cut this one down. So, we had to get a tree climber in. This was very exciting to watch!

Getting back to the renovations, we are also doing significant work to the bunkie, including drilling a new well …

… and adding a septic field, with a lovely bathroom and kitchenette in between.

Drilling a well requires some serious equipment, which was quite fascinating to watch.

In between these activities, we did another pet sit with the same people we sat for in February. Their little dog is quite cute! He loves the beach, and so we had to take him there to frolic in the waves.

While walking through the community, we saw the results of beavers damming a stream flowing between two lakes. I am not sure if this is dangerous, but it does look like the road could be damaged to some degree if the dam burst.
