July 17th, 2010 dawned a beautiful day, with sun and blue sky. Participants stretched their throwing arms and threw a few shoes to check the sand depth.
At 1:30PM, the teams were created – seven in total – by drawing names from a hat. Six people sat on the sidelines as spectators. Then, the games began.
After the first couple games ended in skunks, the athletes warmed up and then the ringers started to clang against the post. Apologies to those ringer throwers who did not get photographed :no:
Not all tosses were quite so clear cut.
After several hours of throwing, the winners finally put the horseshoes, and us, to rest.
After a lovely BBQ of kebabs and salads, some brought by the neighbours…
Revelers carried on into the night…
