I thought I would share a few pictures of the home town events over the last couple months.
One of our new favourite ways to enjoy the desert is to …
… go out in the desert and have a picnic. Actually, we had been out to this spot before I took the video above and took a few photos before the rains …

… including this one where we were sitting right next to the water.

However, after the heavy rains, we found this expanse of lake.

Sitting next to the lake with a little fire and a couple beverages is a pleasant way to get back to nature.

Once the sun sets, we get a great view of the street lights going up Jebel Hafit.
We have had a few picnics in a couple different spots. Another of our favourite spots is out in the desert near Al Hayer. Since there are a number of farms in the area we tend to drive around first looking at camels and when lucky, see some newborn camels.

When we came across these two newborns …

… the mother of one had lost sight of her baby and had wandered over to check out the other newborn.

The camel herders had to come out and bring the other mother back to her baby.
Another new mother decided to check us out.

They can be very friendly!

We also take our friends out with us now and then.

We always love a bit of company around the fire.

Of course, there is a video as well of our exploits.
We also got out for a lovely drive to a small enclave in the mountains along the east coast of the UAE.

There is a significant dam nearby that held quite a bit of water.

After the recent rains and hail we had, not once but twice …

.. that caused quite a bit of flooding …

… we expect that all the dams are very full. Check out this video
Of course, we went to the beach a few times. Here is a video and a shot of the beach. I am sure there are dozens of beach shots, but I like to see the changes in the distance!

The video!
Until next time!
