Keji 2024

This summer for our annual Keji trip …

Going to Keji!

… we were lucky to get a site that we had not stayed at before. We do like to try different sites, but we also have a few favourites.

We also had a bit of new gear, or ‘kit’, as the Brits say. So, we jammed all of this gear into our canoe and took off.

Loading the canoe

This year, I decided to try out Site 24, which is a strategic location close to two portage points. The strange stuff on the water was pollen that had blown off the trees. It was gone by the morning.

We pulled into the campsite as the sky was darkening. We quickly set up the tent and the tarp just before the rain started.

In the rain

Not to be daunted, we decided that a nice cup of tea was just the thing.

How about a hot drink in the rain?

After a couple of hours of backgammon and perhaps something other than tea, finally the burning ban ended at 7:00, we lit the fire and the sun came out, all at the same time!

The next day, we prepared for our adventures.

Tea in the canoe

Because we were near two portage areas, these provided opportunities to go for hikes and explore other lakes.

Hiking the portage trail

These trails are well kept and as you can see, the trail itself is quite smooth. This makes rolling your canoe on wheels very easy.

We also spent time exploring a few islands and passageways. Keji Lake is quite huge and full of bays, islands and areas to explore.

After a hard day’s hiking and paddling, I went for  swim …

… and we took time to reflect on the nature.

After a couple of lovely and relaxing day, we loaded up the canoe again, and slowly paddled back to civilization.

The final leg of the journey

There are so many sites, that we end up with a lot of photos. Have a look through a few other shots and a short video of the park and our trip.
